Lawsuits, the City Budget, and Your Taxes
As chair of the City Council’s Budget and Finance Committee, Councilman Feuer will be among the key players who decide how the city will pay the $l00 million to $1 billion dollars in damages that are expected to arise from the LAPD Ramparts Division scandal.
When he speaks, the councilman will be in the midst of budget hearings for the new fiscal year starting July 1. At 7260’s meeting, he will discuss the options for payment of the damages, among them cutting city services, issuing bonds, and using tobacco money. Feuer, an attorney, will devote his entire prepared address to the legal and financial implications of the investigations currently underway. After his talk, he will answer audience questions about Ramparts and any other subject of concern to 7260.
