Operation of Trash Trucks Awakens Neighbors on Almayo

June 3, 2005

Private companies are improperly  operating trash trucks in the alley between Pico Blvd. and Almayo Ave.

The trucks pick up trash from businesses located on Pico, and have routinely been doing so at 3 or 4 a.m. in violation of the Los Angeles Municipal Code’s Noise Ordinance (LAMC Section 113.01), which prohibits trash collection “within 200 feet of any residential building between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. of the following day…”

The Board has sent testimonials from neighbors of the illegal activity, as well as the above cite from the Municipal Code, to CD5 Chief Deputy Susan Bursk, who runs Councilman Weiss’ Westside office. Susan has a history of providing excellent cooperation with the 7260 Board’s efforts to protect the quality of life in our neighborhood. We intend to vigorously pursue cessation of this illegal activity, and will continue to use all means at our disposal to compel these private trash collection companies to obey the law.
