August 3, 2006
The City of Beverly Hills held a
scoping meeting for the 9900 Wilshire project on August 3,
2006. A short presentation was given by the developer
followed by an opportunity to pose questions to Beverly
Hills planning staff and developer representatives.
For reference, this project
involves the Robinsons/May site.

The scoping information can be found here.
Of primary concern is the
impact that the project would have on the free flow of Santa
Monica Blvd. traffic. The developer is proposing a new
light at Merv Griffin Way and Santa Monica.
Additionally, the two driveways west of Merv Griffin Way
will be used far more extensively under the new project.
The entry of so many more
cars onto fast-moving Santa Monica Blvd. seems to represent
a significant impact of the project. Further, the
cumulative impact of another large construction project
using Santa Monica Blvd. and/or Wilshire Blvd. for its haul
route is of concern.
This project is one of a
series of current projects that will provide for the
doubling of the residential population in and immediately
adjacent to Century City. The other projects are the
St. Regis project, JMB, Westfield, 10000 Santa Monica and
9800 Wilshire (Beverly Hilton).
The website for the project

The scoping information above
contains contact information for city planners at Beverly
Hills. If you send comments, please be sure to send
them to 7260 as well so we can gather all of the concerns of
our members (and the larger community) as we evaluate the
project. Information can be sent to:

7260 will be working with its
neighboring associations in the effort to review the
project. The area covered by the participating
associations runs roughly from Century City to the 405 and
from the 10 to Wilshire. |
